Description:

Rome, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A lovely and wearable pair of earrings, each comprised of five ancient glass beads on modern findings. The lower end of the pin head finding is strung with a small bead with golden iridescence. Above is a large spherical bead that has a blue mosaic or millefiori glass patterning comprised of irregular red and white "eye" motifs. A golden lozenge shaped bead, a rounded black, and a semi-translucent bead are stacked on top. The mosaic or millefiori technique involves combining different colors of glass canes and slicing these into sections that form the classic eye or flower patterns. These earrings are outfitted with modern 14K gold hooks to make these lovely beads wearable. A fine collection of ancient glass artistry that will compliment many outfits! Size earring: 1.625" L (4.1 cm); largest bead: .375" diameter (1 cm)
