Central Asia, Afghanistan, Gandharan period, ca. 1st to 5th century CE. A lovely necklace comprised of rectangular and smaller barrel shaped blue glass beads. The double strands are strung with over 100 ancient beads interspersed with modern gold plated seed beads strung along the length. The majority of beads present a blue or a gray tone. A few have protrusions of yellow and orange glass that add nice contrast to the cool tones. This necklace is wearable and strung in modern times with a gold-plated lobster clasp. A simple and elegant accessory! Size of strand: 22" L (55.9 cm); average bead size: .5" L x .125" W (1.3 cm x 0.3 cm)
