Description:

Pre-Columbian, northwest coast Peru, Viru culture, ca. 100 BCE to 600 CE. A fabulous pottery double vessel comprised of 2 cylindrical chambers with rounded tops and bases connected via a tubular tunnel at their lower section and a ribbon-form handle at their shoulders. One of the chambers presents a projecting conical spout at its top, while the other exhibits the head of a duck, featuring bulging, annular eyes and a semi-circular beak. Several petite perforations decorate the duck's head, which allows air to escape when one blows through the spout, producing a lovely sound. Black and white pigments adorn the exterior of the double vessel, forming dotted, striated, and maze-like designs. Size: 10.75" L x 4.25" W x 7.875" H (27.3 cm x 10.8 cm x 20 cm)
