Description:

Northern Europe, Norse / Viking culture, ca. 8th to 11th century CE. Two pretty bronze ornaments. A lovely bronze bracelet, comprised of four strands of bronze wire woven into a tightly twisted weave, with each end a twisted loop. Probably wearable, but bronze does become brittle with age and not recommended. Also a delicate bronze penannular brooch with an incised pattern designed to look like twisted wires around its body; its ends are hammered flat, with black, opaque glass baubles held in place on the terminals with a bronze rivet (one remains). A pin is wrapped around the brooch for fastening. Size of bracelet: 2.9" W (7.4 cm); size of brooch: 3.1" W (7.9 cm)
