Northern Europe, Scandinavia, Viking or Norse culture, ca. 9th to 11th century CE. A charming Viking axe head pendant of a petite, triangular form with a crescent-shaped blade edge, a tapered neck, and a slender tang with a perforated suspension loop, all formed from 90.4% gold. The obverse of the axe head is decorated with stamped triangle motifs that were a preferred style in ancient times. Fed through the tang perforation is a modern silver wire suspension loop that enables this pendant to be displayed on a necklace strand or bracelet. Size: 0.43" W x 0.82" H (1.1 cm x 2.1 cm); gold quality: 90.4% (equivalent to 21K+); weight: 2.9 grams
