Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, Coahuayana Valley type, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A seated male terracotta figure with a solid, flat angular body and hollow limbs, elaborately adorned with a double-banded headdress with incised detailing upon his elongated head, double round earspools, a pectoral with a twin 'shell' pendant, armbands, wristbands, a triangular loin cloth and other fittings around his middle befitting the ceremonial ballgame. Sitting calmly with crossed legs and hands resting upon his knees, this gent presents a serious countenance with facial features resembling those created in the Coahuayana Valley. Size: 4.25" W x 5.75" H (10.8 cm x 14.6 cm)
