Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, early period, ca. 300 to 100 BCE. A rare form of a Colima figure, showing a rotund woman with simple features. She has incised lines for hands whose style is mirrored by the incised-line style of her hair. This type of figure comes from the early period of the shaft tomb culture in Colima, probably from the Tecoman or towards the Coahuayana Valley area. Size: 4.3" W x 5.25" H (10.9 cm x 13.3 cm)

Provenance: Ex-private Peter Arnovick collection, Los Altos, CA acquired around 1980. Mr. Arnovick was a collector and dealer of ancient and ethnographic cultures.
