Description:

North America, United States, Connecticut, Middletown, ca. 1816 CE. A fabulous example of an 1816 U.S. model S. (Simeon) North .54 caliber pistol with a knob-shaped handle, a petite trigger enclosed within an ovoid guard, an articulated percussion firing mechanism which was converted from a flintlock style, and a smoothbore cylindrical barrel secured within a shallow groove by a bifurcated steel strap. The lock plate bears the symbol of the S. North company beneath the curved hammer, with a faint "A" stamped on the barrel behind the strap, and "P" stamped onto several screw heads. The date of the gun on the barrel just above the hammer is faded. Size: 15.3" L x 6.5" H (38.9 cm x 16.5 cm).
