Native American, southwestern United States, Navajo tribe, ca. mid-20th century CE. A fabulous pair of wearable necklaces featuring dozens of heishi shell, jet, and turquoise beads. The first necklace has a central turquoise bead among creamy beige and black jet sections, and the terminals are capped with a pair of wire hooks. The larger necklace exhibits four turquoise discs that alternate between jet discs and white-and-orange shell discs, and a wire loop and hook are secured to the terminals. Size (necklace w/ four turquoise): 18.5" L (47 cm); (largest turquoise): 0.4" W (1 cm); (necklace w/ one turquoise): 15.25" L (38.7 cm); (center turquoise): 0.6" W (1.5 cm)
