Native American, Papago culture, Sonoran Desert, Arizona/New Mexico, ca. 1940. A fine coil basket of a circular form with a slightly narrow rim made from yucca with black devil's claw to create the decorative program. Adorning the walls of the basket are abstract cruciform and figural motifs that perhaps represent ancestral or religious symbolism. A lovely example. Size: 5.3" W x 3.75" H (13.5 cm x 9.5 cm)
