Pre-Columbian, Peru, Chancay and Inca, ca. 900 to 1500 CE. A set of 2 ancient Peruvian textile coca bags, each exhibiting vibrant hues of red, brown, and white. The Chancay bag is made using tightly-woven cotton fibers and has a series of tassels dangling from the bottom. The Inca bag was created using camelid fibers and has columns of intricate, white-hued spirals down the sides. Size of largest (Inca): 10.25" W x 9.75" H (26 cm x 24.8 cm)

  • Condition: Inca bag with damage to suspension cord on top. Each bag with fraying and loosening to some fibers, with light staining to pigment, and light creasing, otherwise in great condition. Nice preservation to decorative motifs throughout.
