Native American, North America, Southwestern New Mexico, Southeast Arizona, and Northern Chihuahua region of Mexico, Mogollon culture, ca. 1000 to 1150 CE. A set of 2 coil-and-scrape pottery vessels from the ancient Mogollon. The wider bowl features a smooth, stone-burnished surface with fire-darkened black areas surrounding the orange-hued body. The taller jar features hundreds of petite corrugations across the exterior surfaces for easier gripping when being handled. Size (smooth bowl): 5.9" W x 3.75" H (15 cm x 9.5 cm); (corrugated jar) 5.25" W x 4.625" H (13.3 cm x 11.7 cm)

  • Condition: Bowl with repair to one side and stabilization to 2 fissures on opposite side; jar with losses to rim as shown. Each vessel with minor abrasions, with softening to exterior corrugations on jar, otherwise both are in nice condition.
