Ancient Near East, Holy Land / Levant, Late Bronze Age, ca. 1550 to 1200 BCE. A pair of pottery oil lamps in a saucer shape with small disc feet. Both have very narrow pinched rests for their wicks and fairly shallow bowls. Lamps like these were hugely important to the lives of the people who used them; in the Old Testament, various important people are compared by analogy to the importance of lights like these. Size of largest: 5.2" W x 1.75" H (13.2 cm x 4.4 cm)
