Description:

Classical World, Greco-Roman period, ca. 2nd century BCE to 1st century CE. A trio of handsome ceramic oil lamps, all with a rounded body and a spout projecting from one side. One has an undecorated body; another has a very simple motif of banded lines around the spout; the third, which is painted black, has a more elaborate molded decoration of lines and bosses. Oil lamps would be filled with olive oil, have a wick placed inside of them, and used to light homes, shops, holy places, and many other places throughout the Greek and Roman world. Items like these remind us of the everyday lives of the people who would have used them. Size of largest: 3.55" W (9 cm)
