Description:

Classical World, Greco-Roman period, ca. 2nd century BCE to 1st century CE. A delicate pair of matching 22K gold earrings, each composed of a very thin, curved 22K gold wire attached by granule-like balls to a broadened half-disc, the disc hollow and wrapped in three places with three pieces of similarly thin gold wire. These could be made wearable by a jeweler with the addition of findings. Earrings like these would have been worn by high status Greek and Roman women, who treasured their jewelry - some of the only private property elite women could own in the Classical Mediterranean. Size: .625" L x .5" W (1.6 cm x 1.3 cm); 2.2 grams for the pair
