Red wool felted into three thick cords with tassels decorated with glass beads and buttons dangling from the ends, which were used as hair extensions to braid into hair. Women in the Himalayas would adorn themselves in elaborate headdresses and hair ornaments as signs of wealth, status, tribe affiliation, and as auspicious talismans - red symbolizes protection, power, and the life force.
