Description:

Pre-Columbian, Chile, San Pedro, Atacama Desert, Tiahuanaco / Tiwanaku culture, ca. 4th to 8th century CE. A hand-carved wooden scoop bearing a lengthy stem and an abstract seated monkey comprising the handle. Scoops like this were primarily used in preparing hallucinogenic substances for ritual ingestion, and were primarily utilized by shamans. Size: 13.125" L x 0.7" W (33.3 cm x 1.8 cm); 14.25" H (36.2 cm) on included custom stand.
