Pre-Columbian, Peru, Chancay to Inca, ca. 900 to 1500 CE. A set of 3 colorful textile artifacts from ancient Peru that are formed using tightly-woven threads of either natural cotton or camelid wool. First is a Chancay coca bag with a rectangular motif along the lower body, and the second Chancay creation is a loosely woven, gauze-like panel that is still on its loom sticks. The largest is an Inca coca bag boasting vibrant red hues decorated with columns of abstract geometric and zoomorphic motifs. Size of largest (Chancay coca bag): 11.375" L x 8.75" W (28.9 cm x 22.2 cm)
