Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central Coast of Peru, Chancay, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A set of 3 hand-built textile slings - 2 of utilitarian form and 1 a weapon - constructed from tightly-woven camelid fibers in hues of crimson, chocolate, cream, teal, cobalt, and saffron. Two of the slings are known as tump lines - meant to rest on the forehead while supporting a heavy load on one's back - that exhibit bushy red and green tassels. The brown-and-cream sling weapon is known as a honda and has a bifurcated central body for holding a projectile until flung at one's enemies. Size of largest (honda): 95" L x 1" W (241.3 cm x 2.5 cm)
