China, Tang Dynasty, ca. 618 to 907 CE. An orange terracotta Tang Dynasty funerary attendant figure with areas of white glaze remaining. The figure shows a characteristically elongated form and dons a traditional long, flowing robe. During the Tang dynasty, sculptural representations of humans and animals were frequently placed in burial chambers to honor the deceased. A nice example! Size: 7-1/4".
