Description:

Ancient Near East, modern day Jordan, Assyria, ca. early 1st millennium BCE. A deep, columnar ceramic cylindrical vessel with a pointed base and narrow, circular raised rim. Remains of umber banding encircle the body. The striking vessel would have been used to hold cosmetics or perfumes, with its neck designed to prevent evaporation, and would have been placed into the tomb of its owner after death. Size: 1.55" W x 8" H (3.9 cm x 20.3 cm); 8.25" H (21 cm) on included custom stand.
