Description:

**Originally Listed At $400**

Ancient Near East, The Levant, Syro-Hittite culture, ca. 2nd millennium BCE. A charming pottery bird presenting an abstract yet minimalist form with wings tucked to sides and head raised. Crowned by a spiked crest, the ancient avian presents a petite, pointed beak and drilled eyes. Incised paralel striations adorn his body, likely intended to represent plumage. His body is pierced with an annular perforation that was likely a suspension hole or a place to attach wheels and allow the bird to serve as a toy for a child. Size: 3.6" L x 1.4" W x 2.1" H (9.1 cm x 3.6 cm x 5.3 cm); 3" H (7.6 cm) on included custom stand.
