Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran and Southeastern Turkey, Luristan culture, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. A forged-bronze short sword blade with a broad, flat midrib running parallel to the once-sharpened blade edges. The slender tang emanating from below the rounded shoulder is perforated to accommodate a pin used to affix tactile handles of wood, bone, or stone. Size: 18.9" L x 1.875" W (48 cm x 4.8 cm)

Provenance: private Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA collection; ex-Minerva Gallery; ex-Benjamin Vega, California, USA, acquired in 2006 to 2007; ex-Gene and Virginia George, brought to the USA from 1961 to 1966
