Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A seated bichrome figure of the so-called sheepface variety holding an object (perhaps an instrument, fruit, or weapon) in his or her left hand - and bringing his /her right hand to his / her mouth. The figure's expressive visage is comprised of white painted recessed ovoid eyes, a pronounced protruding nose, pointy horn-like ears, and a happy smile. In addition, he /she is adorned with an elaborate headdress of striated applied trims, large round ear ornaments with a dotted quadrant motif, a triple strand painted beaded necklace, a single-shoulder strapped shirt decorated with dotted textile and / or beaded motifs, a single white circular motif on the right shoulder, gloves, and foot coverings.
