Ancient Near East, Sumeria, probably Akkadian period, ca. 2350 to 2150 BCE. A collection of faience and paste glass beads, with the faience beads probably from the great ancient city of Agade (Akkad). There are ten faience beads, their surfaces incised, six pale blue paste glass beads, and seventeen white paste glass seed beadsall strung on modern sterling silver bar-shaped earrings and a modern sterling silver chain with a hammered silver bar forming a pendant. Faience seems to have been very fashionable at this time, and faience beads have been found as far afield as the Indus Valley and the Gulf of Oman. Wearable! Length of necklace chain: 19" L (48.3 cm); bar pendant is 2" (5.1 cm)
