Description:

**Originally Listed At $500**

Ancient Near East, Mesopotamia, ca. 3rd to 2nd millennium BCE. A cast bronze pendant in the form of a zoomorphic effigy - perhaps an ungulate - with a pronounced curved snout, an open mouth, perky ears, and stubby tail - all four legs perched atop a cylindrical seal that is covered with incised iconography, including two stylized deer or ibexes and long striated motifs perhaps to represent grasses. At the circular end is a crescent-like lunar motif. There is an integral suspension loop atop the animal's back. Also included is a clay rollout of the stamp's imagery which seems to depict botanical and zoomorphic motifs. A wonderful piece from Mesopotamia - the legendary 'land between the rivers'! Size: 1.375" L x .5" W x 2.125" H (3.5 cm x 1.3 cm x 5.4 cm); 3" H (7.6 cm) on included custom stand. Clay rollout measures 1.25" W x 1" H (3.2 cm x 2.5 cm).
