Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 268 to 270 CE. A bronze Claudius II Gothicus Tetradrachm coin minted 268 to 270 CE, made wearable and set in a modern sterling silver pendant setting. Obverse: Claudius bust facing right with a laureate head, and legend surrounding. Reverse: eagle standing right on thunderbolt, wreath in beak, and palm branch over shoulder. The modern silver bezel is beaded around the edge and the arched articulating pendant setting has a suspension loop for a chain or cord in the center. This is a unique combination of ancient currency and modern silver jewelry! Size (coin): 0.7" Diameter (1.8 cm); (pendant setting): 1.3" L x 1.2" W (3.3 cm x 3 cm); silver quality: 94.6%; weight: 22.4 grams
