Central Asia, Persia, Seljuq, ca. 1040 to 1196 CE. A miniature bronze figurine created in the medieval Turko-Persian empire known as Seljuk (Seljuq). The endearing piece depicts a perky bird with a prominent, decorative crest atop her head, equally pronounced large eyes and beak, tailfeathers that slant upward, and outspread wings. This adorable avian creature has quite the personality! The entire surface is covered with a deep green patina adding to its charm. Size: 1-7/8" x 1-1/4" x 1" (4.8 x 3.2 x 2.5 cm)
