Description:

Ancient Near East/Central Asia, Sassanian (Sasanian/Sasanid) Empire, ca. 2nd to 7th century CE. A charming cast-bronze fragment of a vessel, finial, or another decorative piece presenting with a hollow tubular center and 2 zoomorphic heads facing opposite and upside down from one another. One head appears bird, amphibian, or fish like and displays a triangular form with an open mouth and large circular eye. The other head is likely a dragon and exhibits two curved horns, a pointed snout, a raise, a round nose, and two annular eyes. The center is beautifully incised with several registers of dotted scales. Size: 2.75" L x 1.8" H (7 cm x 4.6 cm)
