Description:

Native American, United States, Santo Domingo Pueblo, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A beautifully crafted heishi shells and coral bead necklace strung on ten strands. The terminal ends of the strands are wrapped in cotton thread, coated with a light layer of wax to prevent fraying. This "Pueblo wrap" style finish offers added comfort against the wearer's skin, particularly during dancing, as it eliminates irritation from metal hooks or clasps that may rub against the neck or catch in the hair. Size of strand doubled: 30" L (76.2 cm)
