Rome, Imperial Period, Trajan, ca. 98 to 117 CE. AR tridrachm (9.47 grams). Arabia, Bostra Mint. Obverse: Laureate bust of Trajan to right. Reverse: Aquila between two signa, the left one surmounted by wreath, the right by hand; all with hand grabs to left. SNG ANS 1162, Sydenham, Caesarea 224. Size: 1" W (2.5 cm)

Trajan was a successful soldier and emperor, and under him the Roman Empire had its greatest military expansion and reached the furthest extent of its borders. He implemented social welfare policies, built extensive public works, and is known as one of the Five Good Emperors.
