Ancient Art. Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A heavy silver ring with a dark red stone intaglio depicting two cornucopia, wheat, and a trident. These are surrounded by two laurel wreaths. The cornucopia is an attribute of many Roman deities, especially the goddess of agriculture, Demeter and the goddess of luck, Fortuna. No matter which deity it related to, its presence always signified wealth and abundance. Comes on custom display stand with included clay impression of intaglio face. US size 8. Size of intaglio: 0.6" W x 0.8" H (1.5 cm x 2 cm); 1.5" H (3.8 cm) on included custom stand.
