Description:

Ancient Art. Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A pretty free-blown glass jug with a shimmering, coppery-colored patina on much of the surface. The jug has a slightly concave foot, with a clear pontil mark. Its body is apple-shaped, with a sloping shoulder that flows smoothly into the thin neck. This flares outward to form a wide rim at the top, perfect for preventing any spillage of whatever precious liquid was kept within. A thick glass handle is applied to the neck, with a trailing line of extra glass on on its exterior. Low on the body is an additional area of white patina with rainbow iridescence. Size: 2.6" W x 4.6" H (6.6 cm x 11.7 cm)
