Description:

Rome, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A detailed sculptural rendering of a Roman warrior wearing a helmet, armor, and most likely a belt or apron (these usually comprised of leather strips) to protect the lower body. Though we can only see his thighs, it appears that one leg is positioned before the other and that the sculptor was presenting the figure either leaning on one side via contrapposto or striding forward. Custom stand. Size: 4" L x 1.5" W (10.2 cm x 3.8 cm); 4.5" H (11.4 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Carlton Collection, Los Angeles, California, USA, acquired between 1965 and 1980
