Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE (six) and Medieval Islamic, 10th to 12th century CE (the one with writing on it). A fine collection of ovoid and circular intaglios, one made from deep red garnet, one from grey-green stone, and the other five from paler red and red-orange carnelian. Each is incised with different images - characters, profile busts, floral motifs, and animals. My favorite is one featuring two ducks! Size of largest: 0.8" W (2 cm)
