Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, probably Eastern Mediterranean / Holy Land region, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A lovely set of items from the Roman Holy Land. First is a small iron arrowhead with a triangular profile, a thin needle-shaped shaft, and three tapering fin blades. Second is a tall wheel-thrown pottery redware unguent with a slight concave base, a piriform body with several horizontal ribs, a cylindrical neck, a narrow mouth, and a flared rim. The bottle also has an accompanying pottery stopper with a short, nubbin-shaped plug end and a disc-shaped body with a spiralized design on top. Arrow head includes custom lucite display stand. Size of arrowhead: 2.55" H (6.5 cm); 3.25" H (8.3 cm) on included custom stand; size of bottle: 6" H (15.2 cm); 6.375" H (16.2 cm) with accompanying stopper.

  • Condition: Iron arrowhead has minor loss to tip of one fin blade and corrosion throughout. Bottle has age-commensurate surface wear and pitting, root marks, light earthen deposits, and mineral deposits. Pottery stopper has a few minor chips and some surface wear.
