Description:

Rome, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. Finely cast via the lost wax (cire perdue) process, a maskette depicting a captivating visage comprised of black and white glass inlaid eyes, a pointy slightly upturned nose, parted lips, a rounded chin, and subtle facial contours -donning a leafy wreath. Perhaps this is Apollo adorned with a laurel wreath, the symbol of honor and victory - or a commander who has succeeded in a recent triumph over his foe. A carefully delineated image with gorgeous green patina that has developed over the centuries. Simply stunning! Size: 1.875" W x 1.875" H (4.8 cm x 4.8 cm); 2.625" H (6.7 cm) on included custom stand.
