Description:

Roman, Holy Land, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A free-blown, pale-green glass bottle with a slight concave base, smooth pontil, and a four-sided body with each face displaying impressed, vertically-ribbed panels. The shoulders taper gently to a cylindrical neck, and a single applied trail handle joins the shoulder to a funneled mouth with a rolled rim. Gorgeous areas of silvery and fiery, rainbow-hued iridescence complement the vessel's overall coloration. Vessels like this were intended to hold scented oils or other uncommon liquids, and were a common yet beautiful sight in many Roman settlements thoughout the ancient Holy Land. Size: 4.625" H (11.7 cm).
