Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A beautiful cast-bronze attachment for a belt or other item of clothing depicting a finely-detailed bust of Minerva, the Roman goddess of strategy, war, and wisdom. Her upper torso projects from an arching plaque, and her gentle visage is composed of almond-shaped eyes, puffy cheeks, and a plaited coiffure, all underneath her signature crested war helmet. A pair of small prongs protrude from the verso, and layers of lustrous green- and russet-hued patina grace all surfaces. Perhaps worn by a soldier for luck or increased battlefield prowess, this would have been a fabulous addition to any military ensemble! Custom display stand included. Size: 1.125" H (2.9 cm); 2.25" H (5.7 cm) on included custom stand.
