Description:

Incredible and unusual shape! From ancient Rome, ca. 3rd-4th Century CE. Pale blue/green glass with concave bottom and short funnel neck; around middle of the body is a row of horizontally-oriented raised pinches, above which is an unusual internal yet raised ring of a darker color, probably formed by the application of a wire or some other pointed tool while the glass was still malleable. 4-1/4"H.

Provenance: Ex-Private London, England Collection acquired in the 1980s.
