Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A fine necklace of a wearable form composed with dozens of seed-form glass beads in primarily blue, grey, green, beige, black, and brown hues with groups of the diminutive beads interspersed with modern, gold-filled spheres. Draped from the center of the necklace is a trio of drop-form pendants, and the terminals are capped with a gold-filled loop and lobster clasp combo. Size (necklace): 24" L (61 cm); (largest bead): 0.5" H (1.3 cm).
Provenance: private Nomos collection, Switzerland, acquired before 1973

Condition:
Strung in modern times and wearable as shown. Glass beads are ancient, and stringing and gold-filled components are modern. Minor abrasions and weathering film to some beads, otherwise intact and very good. Faint iridescence on some beads.
