**First Time At Auction**

Rome, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd century CE. A free-blown glass aryballos of pale sage green hues and attractive translucence. This particular example boasts a near-spherical body that evolves into a tubular neck and a flared, folded rim. A pair of small trailed handles join neck to shoulders. All sits upon a base with a smoothed pontil scar. Simply lovely. Size: 2.25" in diameter x 2.875" H (5.7 cm x 7.3 cm)

  • Condition: Slight losses to trail handles. Pressure cracks to body and neck. Earthen deposits on interior. Vessel possesses a pontil scar or mark which indicates that the vessel was free-blown. (The absence of such a mark would suggest that the work was either mold-blown or that the mark was intentionally smoothed away or wore away over time.)
