Description:

Roman, early Imperial Period, ca. 1st century CE. A tall, free-blown semi-translucent glass vase, also known as an "ampulla," of a pale yellow color. The vessel is defined by a concave base with rough pontil scar, an apple-shaped body with a narrow tubular neck, and a broad, flared rim with a gently rolled edge. The exterior of the vessel boasts wonderful areas of pearlescent iridescence which nicely complement the pale hue of the glass. The body has been incised with a fishbone motif that refracts light. Size: 3.65" W x 6.85" H (9.3 cm x 17.4 cm)
