Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 3rd century CE. A beautiful and wearable ring of high-quality 95.31% gold with a shank bearing lotus blooms or palmettes for terminals. Set within the ovoid bezel is a form-fitting carnelian intaglio with an incised, right-facing image of the goddess Minerva (Greek Athena) with a spear slung across her shoulder and her typical helmet setting atop her flowing coiffure. Size (intaglio): 0.47" L x 0.38" W x 0.10" H (1.2 cm x 1 cm x 0.3 cm); (ring setting): 0.57" L x 0.82" W x 0.82" H (1.4 cm x 2.1 cm x 2.1 cm); gold quality: 95.31% (equivalent to 22K+); weight: 5.0 grams; US ring size: 7
