**First Time At Auction**

Roman, Late Imperial Period, ca. 4th to early 5th century CE. Boat-shaped cast bronze oil lamp with a tall, teardrop-shaped foot, flourishes shaped like bunches of grapes on either side of its projecting handle (much of which is now lost), and a lion-like mask on the wide end of the bowl. The form calls to mind the ship-shaped oil lamp found at the House of the Valerii in 1675, now located at the Archaeological Museum of Florence. Size: 3.05" L x 6.25" W x 3.95" H (7.7 cm x 15.9 cm x 10 cm)
