Description:

Pre-Columbian, Mesoamerican Formative Period, Guerrero State, Mexico, Xochipala culture, ca. 13th to 10th century BCE. This is a small figure, standing in a crouch with arms raised, wearing a loincloth, necklace, and earrings, with an animal - looking like a small bear? - perched atop his head. These figures, while rare, are noted for their naturalistic poses and attention to detail, despite their early date in the Mesoamerican ceramic tradition. Their connection to the Olmec is unclear. Size: 3.1" W x 7.25" H (7.9 cm x 18.4 cm)
