Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Olmec, ca. 900 to 500 BCE. A classic Olmec, finely carved, jade spoon of blue-green hues in the form of a dragon with a toothy profile visage, the central and main depression of the spoon incised with a profile head of a deity or lord, the tail end of which is meticulously incised with abstract geometric motifs. A rare example skillfully carved from a nice jade stone. Size: 6.5" L x 1.625" W (16.5 cm x 4.1 cm)
