Description:

Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Ca. 1000 to 500 BCE. An endearing and finely handbuilt greyware vessel in the form of a floating/swimming duck with an incised crest, pointy beak, and applied circular eyes with pierced pupils. The wings are beautifully incised along the sides leading to an outspread tail at the rear that also serves as a wide spout. Fabulous artistry and technique, not to mention an adorable rendering of this waterbird by an ancient Olmec artisan. Size: 4.75" L x 3" H (12.1 cm x 7.6 cm)
