With a fluted lower end below, it is adorned with a double-headed eagle in repousse with engraved details, each eagle holding a flag adorned with a Greek cross, in remembrance of the Battle of Skra de Legen (Skora di Legen), a two-day battle that took place on May 29-30, 1918 at the Skra fortified position, located northeast of Mount Paiko, which lies northwest of Thessaloniki, on the Macedonian front of World War I. According to military historians, this battle as the first to engage a significant number of Greek troops.
