Description:

Pre-Columbian, Caribbean, Taino, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. A nearly perfectly spherical wooden ball created by the Taino peoples, perhaps for use in a game or as a ceremonial object. Ball-courts have been found in parts of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, where the Mesoamerican ballgame, batu, was played with a rubber ball - a wood ball may have been part of a different game or activity. Size: 3" L (7.6 cm); 3.5" H (8.9 cm) on included custom stand.
